Get Out and Play!

The Southern California Golf Association is pleased to introduce the Casual Golf Day program, which allows members to participate in SCGA organized non-competitive golf outings.  Casual Golf Days focus on increasing the exposure of the SCGA to more members, who may not necessarily participate in SCGA Championship events.  The SCGA would like Casual Golf Days to be an opportunity for members of all skill ranges to enjoy a fun-filled day of golf at an SCGA member golf course that they may not normally have the chance to play.

“This is a great program that will allow our members to come out alone and meet new people or with a group of golf buddies to have a great day of golf,” says Ray Tippet, SCGA Assistant Executive Director. “This is no-pressure golf; we don’t want it to be a competitive tournament feeling. This is a chance, however, for our members to take advantage of an SCGA championship-quality event, whether they are a scratch golfer or still establishing a handicap."

Casual Golf Days include the round(s) of golf, a tee prize and an opportunity to meet and speak with SCGA staff members.  The day will NOT include formal competition, scorecards, scoreboards or any other formal tournament-like aspects.  All players will be responsible for posting their own score.

To participate in a Casual Golf Day event, complete the registration form (no Handicap Index requirements) and submit payment information the SCGA.  A confirmation and additional information will be e-mailed to each participant prior to the event.  If you have pairing requests, please be sure to indicate those requests on your registration form.  The fee to participate in Casual Golf Days varies depending on the location, but ranges around $50 per day.  Some locations are offering additional opportunities for Casual Golf Day participants including room accommodations and next day golf specials.

The Casual Golf Day concept originated after the SCGA received numerous requests from members to participate in SCGA sponsored events with a non-competitive format.  The program was born out of the idea that the SCGA could potentially increase the number of members involved in SCGA related programs.  If you have any questions, please contact the SCGA Member Services Department at casualgolf@scga.org or (800) 554-7242.
