Recent SCGA Amateur Champion Patrick Cantlay tied for ninth this weekend at the Canadian Open after shooting even-par over the four rounds. The rising UCLA sophomore concluded the tournament with rounds of 2-under 68 and 1-under 69 to move into the top-ten. He has now finished in the top-25 of all four PGA Tour events he's played in.
"I feel good about the week," said Cantlay. "I played decent Thursday, Friday and played real well on the weekend, so I'm really happy."
Cantlay's impressive finish makes him eligible for this week's tournament in West Virginia, but Cantlay said he probably won't go.
The SCGA member and world's top-ranked amateur left $140,400 on the table after the tournament by maintaining his amateur status.
Next up for Cantlay will be the Western Amateur, which begins next week at North Shore CC in Illinois.
