Course Measuring

The SCGA’s course rating department provides golf course measurement as a service to member clubs. Measurements are taken for a club’s overall yardage from every set of tees and the driving range.

The SCGA is one of a handful of golf associations using a global positioning system (GPS), allowing for more efficient and accurate golf course measurements. Five years ago, the SCGA embarked on a project to measure all member courses by the end of 2009. The course rating department has completed the task and will soon be able to offer additional services as a result of the GPS measurements. In the future, the data can be used to create yardage books, take sprinkler head measurements and find the square footage of the greens and teeing grounds for superintendent needs.
