Two summers ago, Brandon Dorsey participated in an SCGA Foundation G.A.M.E. Day at Lakeside, where he was partnered with SCGA Foundation volunteer Ron Stavert. Just recently, Brandon reconnected with Ron, recalling a conversation they had that has come to impact his schooling.

Ron,
I was working on a research paper for a business management class recently when you crossed my mind. A couple of summers ago you invited me out to Lakeside on two occasions, for this I thank you. During one of our rounds, when we had just finished the ninth hole (quite possibly the toughest par-4 I’ve ever played), I asked you what your favorite part of being President of Lakeside was. You mentioned the importance of recognizing others and their work, and that recognizing and appreciating employees had the potential to boost individual performance and generate loyalty and commitment. It struck me how something so simple contained the power to have such a large effect on others.
I wanted to email this note as a small thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. My research paper, a 15-page investigation of the science behind motivation and it’s place in business, has turned into a very fulfilling and applicable assignment thanks to our discussion. I hope that you are still doing well and playing lots of golf.
Highest Regards,
Brandon Dorsey
