Three teams hold share of first-round lead

Day one of the 33rd SCGA Four-Ball Net Championship is in the books, and three teams share the overnight lead by shooting an opening round 60.  Santa Barbara GC, Spring Valley Lake CC and Roger Dunn Rancho Cucamonga all found a way to master the challenging Oak Valley layout, which is set to hold PGA TOUR Q-school in a few short weeks.  As the course gears up for Q-school, so too has the rough height, which was no small obstacle for the 52 teams competing in this year’s championship.

To reach the championship teams had to first qualify at one of Southern California’s four sectional qualifying sites.  In fact, several of the teams had to go through qualifying at their home club just to reach the SCGA sectional sites.  The four-ball net format uses the team’s best net score on each hole to come up with an 18-hole total.
