SCGA inducts its third Hall of Fame class

San Diego native and PGA Tour record-holder Billy Casper was one of four influential golfers honored as the third class in the SCGA's Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony took place Oct. 27 following the SCGA's 110th Annual Meeting at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Universal City.

Casper spoke at the ceremony, which also inducted notable female golfer and Olympic athlete Babe Zaharias; two-time California Amateur champion and three-time Walker Cup participant Dr. Frank "Bud" Taylor; and two-time SCGA Amateur champion, past SCGA and CGA President, and Wilshire CC designer Norman Macbeth. Memorabilia from each was on display, including Zaharias' Olympic medals, Taylor's Walker Cup jacket, Macbeth's Wilshire membership book, and several of Casper's championship trophies.
