Twenty SCGA Foundation supporters and major donors were invited to an intimate evening with special guest and Lakers’ Legend Jerry West on January 12th. The event, held at Bel-Air Country Club, raised nearly $9,500 after expenses for the Foundation’s initiatives. The guests experienced a fireside chat with West facilitated by Foundation President Ed Holmes. Holmes, who has had the opportunity to get to know West on a more personal level this past year, navigated through a serious of bold and curious questions, uncovering a candid and open dialogue with the former Laker. SCGA Board Member and Foundation committee member Chris Wilson added, “We all got the chance to meet Jerry West and learn about the major adversity he faced and overcame as a child and young man, while raising some money in the process. I was particularly impressed with the Bel Air members and their President who spoke so highly of our Foundation, our GAME Day initiative, and their desire to continue supporting it with future golf events at their club.”
West, currently the Executive Director of the Northern Trust Open, has a goal to raise substantial charity dollars for charities in Los Angeles including the SCGA Foundation through tournaments.
