Mission Viego CC hosts event with style

Mission Viejo CC and its members went all out in hosting the 24th edition of the prestigious championship.  (Images, l-r, top and bottom) The Orange County club provided personalized yardage books for each of the players.  Each contestant also had his own parking space and locker.  A player's tent dished out food before and during the round and drinks afterwards. Equally important (to the players), the Robert Trent Jones, Sr.-designed course was in immaculate condition with greens running 11.5 on the stimpmeter in the morning and 12 in the afternoon.

A highlight of the tournament was the Players’ Dinner, as 55 club members donated $150 each to sponsor the event on the night before the first two rounds; Orange County Register golf columnist Randy Youngman stepped in at the last minute to speak when NFL Hall-of-Fame coach Bill Walsh had to cancel because of illness.
